Copy any selected webpage content as clean, ready-to-paste Markdown with a single right-click.
Zinnia Field Way is a Chrome extension that converts selected HTML content into formatted Markdown via a right-click context menu. It offers multiple copy actions including copy as markdown, copy as quote, copy as link, copy page link, copy link as markdown, and copy image as markdown. The result is written directly to the clipboard, ready to paste into tools like Obsidian, Bear, Notion, or any text editor.

The first version was a personal script that ran in the browser console. It worked, but it was clunky. In early 2024, Gary packaged it properly as a Chrome extension with a context menu so the conversion would be one right-click away instead of a copy-paste into a console. The multiple copy actions came from real use: sometimes you want a blockquote, sometimes you want just the link, sometimes you want the image tag. Each action was added because it solved a specific friction point, not to pad a feature list.
Zinnia Field Way is published on the Chrome Web Store by Gary Glass and is free to install. It does not collect data, does not phone home, and does not require any account. The permissions it requests are the minimum needed to read the selected content and write to the clipboard. If you spend any part of your day moving content from the web into a Markdown-based tool, this extension removes the cleanup step entirely.
Zinnia Field Way is a Chrome extension, so it works in Google Chrome and any Chromium-based browser that supports the Chrome Web Store, including Microsoft Edge and Brave. It is not available for Firefox or Safari.
It works on the vast majority of websites. A small number of pages use content security policies that restrict clipboard access or context menu behaviour. On those pages the menu item may not appear. Standard documentation sites, Wikipedia, GitHub, and most blogs work without any issues.
The extension requests access to the active tab's content (to read the selected HTML) and clipboard write access (to put the result on your clipboard). It does not request access to your browsing history, cookies, or any other data. You can review the full permissions on the Chrome Web Store listing before installing.
